Artist, Author & Architect of whimsical worlds created with fabric and thread …
An 6 week workshop designed for the artist who is seeking clarity and guidance with their studio practices and artistic development. It is for the artist who seeks to push beyond the level of where they are currently working and immerse themselves in an in-depth study of their studio practices and art making.
Creating original work not based on or influenced by another quilters style is essential to the artist who wants to develop their own unique voice and build a cohesive body of work. But for many quilters, knowing how to begin or where to start is a roadblock that is difficult to overcome. In this workshop, individual growth and artistic discovery is the primary goal and it’s designed to give you the tools, motivation and confidence that you need to overcome those roadblocks.

Exploring the Altered Surface

You’ll learn different ways for creating and using silkscreens including drawing your own using Jacquard drawing fluid and screen filler. Techniques for applying both textile and metal leaf foiling will be explored as well as stamping using your own hand made stamps and found objects and ways to add text to the surface including using a paint filled syringe. I’ll show you how to turn your gorgeous new hand painted cloth into a fabric journal packed with blank, fabric and mixed media pages.
