Text on Textiles!

I love to add text to my quilts! It’s an easy way to direct the viewers eye to a particular area on my quilt, help them understand what the underlying theme is or just add a touch of whimsy and fun.

In this workshop I will teach you my three favorite ways to create text for my quilts and none of them requiring working in reverse! Make one of these 18” 18” art quilt projects or create your own. You’ll also learn my techniquesfor working with Mistyfuse fusible web, myquilt-as-you-go method and my four strip fused binding technique.

Suitable for all levels from beginner to expert!

Garden Life

Solid, curved, straight, horizontal, vertical, thick or thin: Line is probably the most fundamental of all the elements of design.  Use simple lines combined with raw edge fusible appliqué and a touch of color to create your own original garden art quilt.

Students will learn my techniquesfor working with Mistyfuse fusible web, myquilt-as-you-go method and my four strip fused binding technique.

Textile Architecture

Create your own version of my wonky house quilt! Work with my pattern or customize it and make it a winter scene, make the sun a moon and it’s night scene, turn the garage into a dog house or add a clothesline strung from the tree to the house with socks hung to dry.  Or create a wonky house lane quilt.   This charming fusible appliqué quilt is also customizable.  Add chimney’s, make it a night scene, change the grass to water and make it a beach scene.

I’ll take you through my entire art quilt making process from start to finish and you’ll learn my cookie cutter outline method for getting those black outlines around odd shaped images.  You’ll also learn my methods for working with Mistyfuse fusible web, my quilt as you go method and my 4 strip fused binding technique.

Both projects are suitable for all skill levels.

Easy Fabric Dyeing

My method for fabric is very easy and tends to produce a fabric with an unevenly colored surface which I prefer because it makes for a more interesting piece of fabric to work with.

In this workshop you’ll learn how to create both solid and tone on tone fabrics working with procion dye and color magnet.

Color Magnet is a dye attractant that magically attracts more dye where it is applied, creating a unique, two-toned effect. You’ll experiment various techniques to apply color magnet to fabric including screen printing, stamping, stenciling, and craft syringes. Students will then dye their fabrics using procion dyes in a variety of colors.

Suitable for all levels. No previous dyeing experience needed!

It’s raining cats or dogs!

Meow and Woof are a 16” x 16”  art quilt that you can customize with your own pets name. Make your pup or cat in a different color or give

them spots or stripes!

Using my pattern I’ll take you through my entire art quilt making process from start to finish and you’ll learn my cookie cutter outline method for getting those black outlines around odd shaped images.

You’ll also learn my methods for working with Mistyfuse fusible web, my quilt as you go method and my 4 strip fused binding technique.

Suitable for all skill levels.
