it’s reveal day for the Fiberactions group. The word for this challenge was environment and good grief did I have trouble with this one. I really liked the word and had several (6!) different ideas but when I tried to put them into form they all failed miserably. I was going to just give up and skip this challenge when eyes fell on this book:
Don’t ask me why I have a copy of this in my studio –that’s a story for another time….
Horton has always been my favorite Dr. Seuss story and when my eyes fell on the book I started thinking about those little Who’s down in whoville who had created their own little environment on that little speck of dust and that led to this…
You might remember seeing this piece of fabric on my blog back in October when I posted about trying indigo for the first time. Here’s a detail shot of the quilt…
All the fabrics (except for the backing) in this quilt are hand dyed indigo. As soon as the new studio is ready and I’m moved in doing some more indigo dyeing is on my top 3 things to do!

I have loved Horton since it was read to me as a small child and I love your interpretation of the whos and the dust speck. Cheers
It’s fun to learn the path of thought that lead from the challenge word to quilt and what a gorgeous quilt!
I really love the Shibori. It is a serene &beautiful quilt. I’m really looking foward to seeing you soon!
I LOVE this! Nice job with the Shibori. They really do look like dust motes!
