Yesterday I had the pleasure of finally getting to meet Jane Davies in person. I first met Jane a couple of years ago online when she emailed me and asked if I would be interested in making a couple of pieces for her new book Adventures in Mixed Media:Collage Stitch,Fuse and Journal Your Way to a More Creative Life due out in April. I found out that Jane was teaching a dream house collage workshop at Ink About It (a terrific place to take a class by the way) and so I signed up. I have never been good at collage but I thought the workshop would be a fun break from the studio and I was right.
My project is not finished yet but here’s an in progress photo of it.
It was also my first time working with foam core which I now see why people like so much. It’s very easy to cut and work with as well as very inexpensive so I think I just might do a little more experimenting with it. And here’s a photo of me and Jane holding our sketchbooks:
The page you see in my book is one of my highly prized sketches. Most mornings I get into the studio before the sun comes up and I get to see it rise through the studio windows so one morning I did a watercolor sketch of it.

Hi It was so nice meeting you last Sat at Jane’s workshop. I think the foam core projects we created were stupendous and I loved your creation with the tiny eggs behind the center window. We had a lot of fun.
Thank you for the info regarding the sketchbook project. I promptly started a sketch that very evening and now have done 5 pages. It is going to be a great challenge each month and I am looking forward to participating. Next challenge will be uploading a pic of sketch.(remember I told you I was electronically challenged!!)

Your sketch and photo are wonderful. Your smile says it all…how much fun you are having in collage class! Love what I am seeing of your foam core collage house. Looks like you are hooked.
) Happy collaging…
Beautiful photo of you and Jane and the journal pages!
Oh,Sue,fun!!
Love the picture of you and Jane and your page. Foam core is light weight too.
The workshop looks like great fun using foam core to make a structure. Great picture of the two of you with your sketchbooks!
