Last week I got together with Kathy and Kathleen for a fabric dyeing day. The day before the big event I mixed up 44 colors of procion dyes:
And then we spent the day dyeing yards and yards and yards of fabric. I did most of mine in plastic baggies:
actually there is more than this but I got bored with the whole ironing process and just decided to leave them out of the photo. I had 5 silk scarf blanks that I wrapped around a length of pvc pipe and then saturated with dye:
and here they are washed and pressed…
and this one is my favorite:
and since I had the dye out I dyed up several yards of silk velvet too:
It was a great day and I’m very pleased with my results. Check out Kathy’s blog here to see the gorgeous fabrics she dyed.

The velvets are my favorite too. Your colors are so rich! Thanks again for hosting,it was a perfect day:)
Sue,
Love your blog, thanks for sharing your dye day,I’m needing a day like that. Also discovered your Three Creative Studios. I will post a link on my blog. Thanks for being such a generous person. Pat
Ohhhh these are delicious! I was thinking about you yesterday with all the dyes you mixed up for this play date. I mixed 9 dyes for some LWI and wondered how in the heck you’d managed to do so many more and stay sane!
Fabulous!
silk velvet? Who’d have thought! Way too much fun.
Talk about production! What a stash. They are beautiful.
Wow,I really need to get into doing this. I love the velvets. Simply beautiful. What an inspiration. What a great time you ladies must have had.
Beautiful Sue! Love those velvets.
OMG!!! Spectacular!! Sue I’d be so proud of myself if I could accomplish 1/8 of what you do!
I didn’t even know there are 44 colors of dye. Your fabrics are beautiful. The silk scarves are beautiful. But the velvet is beyond beautiful. What a fun and creative day you ladies had in the studio. Keep creating…
