Too many things in this post to come up with a relevant title!
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting up with Judy for lunch and some show and tell. Judy brought along some of her work and let me tell you that it's even more amazing in person than it is when you see it on her blog. Then in yesterdays mail I received this gorgeous card from her that she made:
All done in fabric –isn't that amazing?! I love it and as soon as I'm done writing this blog post I'm going to go find a frame for it so I can display it properly.
I've been working on a stack of mini journals to use as gifts and I managed to get those all finished up this morning:
Now all that's left to do is package them up and mail them out to the recipients. Next I have to start working on a commissioned order for an altered denim jacket like the one you see in this previous post. I went hunting through my stash of dyed cheesecloth but could find just the right colors so I spent a little time this morning painting some:
We'll see what these colors look like once they're dry. It's fairly humid here today so I don't think I'll get to work with any of them until tomorrow. In the meantime I'll be working on going through a new stack of love letters from 1907:
and I'm working on putting together a new online class that I'm hoping to debut in January called "Creative Box Making for the Fiber Artist". Next to making journals and books, boxes are among my favorite things to make. In this new class I’m going to show how to make several different styles of boxes ranging from simple square ones and house shaped boxes to bird houses and boxes that unfold into game boards. We’ll be working with a variety of surface design techniques involving fabric, tissue paper, paper bags, quilt batting and more. Stay tuned for some photos of samples for that new class over the next couple of weeks.
In the meantime, speaking of online classes,my Silk Fusion class starts next week. All the details on that class are here. And while you're on the Two Creative Studios website check out Terri's awesome new class,Mixed Media Collage for the Fiber Artist that starts on 10/13.
Now I've got to get back into the studio ,have a great day everyone!

Hi Sue,
please tell me –where do you find the love letters you turn into books? I have been looking at etsy for quite a long time but nothing like that ever turns up.
Angelika
Hi Sue,What paints do you like to use for your cheesecloth? BTW,I have been neglecting my renewal of Fibre and Stitch, but I will asap. I had to buy a new computer,a laptop which works amazingly. As usual your work is wonderful. I am still very sad about losing my pet and wondering how you are doing. All the best,Donna
So many things to comment on! First, thank you for such nice words about the card! The mini journals are great –can’t wait to try one now that I have directions. The jeans jacket should be awesome if it’s anything like the one you did for yourself. And your classes always sound wonderful. The box class should be great!
